Disabled Bodies, Able Minds
After reading this article I learned more about how finding technology can take time. The example that I best connected with was Adrian, it took time for his family and teachers to find the part of his body that would work best for communication. I was able to connect this to an experience that I had with a student who uses a switch system, similar I believe to the system that Adrian uses. As I am someone familiar with assistive technology it was awesome to be reminded of how technology helps students learn.
Assistive Technology Success Stories
Reading this article is unique in that it tells the story, I was able to imagine myself watching these students succeed all because of the technology that their teachers have gotten for them. I have come to realize that my students will need me to be an advocate for them making sure that they receive the best education that they can.
This article seemed to be the back story of the days and weeks prior to teacher introducing the projects that would go with the technology that is in use. The information that I took away when reading this is that a teacher needs to be patient, waiting for the students to be ready to go further with their understanding of the technology.
How the School of the Future Got It Now
This article showed that the ideals that I have as a future teacher are attainable, the idea that students should not be working for the test but that they should be working toward their ultimate goal in life. I love the idea of a authentic assessment, students should be working to ace the test but they should be working on developing life long skills that benefit themselves and those around them no matter where they go or what they do.

Bring proof to class Visit the DO-IT website and watch the FEATURED video How to make web pages accessible to people with disabilities in the right hand box I found this video very interesting to see the people in action. It is very cool to see how technology has changed over time. It was also interesting to think about people's different needs thinks I would never think of if I was designing a web page.
I was unable to load a video from this website however I found one for another that tells the story of Virginia.
This video tells the story of Virginia and how she uses technology in her daily life. Although I have a Facebook and used technology myself and I know what I should and shouldn't share on it. However, I had never really thought that the age in which kids should be educated on technology and how to stay safe. As a teacher I will be important to be cognizant of technology my students may encounter and how to stay safe.
4. Social Media and students with disabilities - Blogs, Wikis, and Text Messaging How could these social media sites support learning in the classroom? On your Wiki, include these comments for your Feb. 11 entry After reading about social medias, I made the realization that websites really do make a difference of how students will be able to succeed in the classroom and in the community. Using different medias makes all studnets feel equal in a classroom. If all students are allowed to used their cell phones to text in a answer then the student who's disability forces them to use a cell phone for communication will feel as though they are an equal part of the class.
